BLUE PLANET ALLIANCE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM, COHORT III
The third cohort of the Blue Planet Alliance Fellowship Program took place from October 6–11, 2024, in Honolulu, Hawaii. We welcomed Fellows from Antigua and Barbuda, Belize, the Cook Islands, Curaçao, Nauru, Rapa Nui, Saint Helena, St. Kitts and Nevis, Suriname, and the U.S. Virgin Islands for a week-long conference designed to accelerate their countries’ transitions to a 100% renewable-energy future.
Throughout the week, Fellows engaged with leading voices from Hawaii’s legislative, regulatory, and academic communities, alongside distinguished experts from the public and private sectors and civil society. A field trip to Mililani Solar Park offered a firsthand look at a working agrivoltaics project, showcasing the synergy between agriculture and solar energy.
The program concluded with a farewell reception at a private residence atop Tantalus, where Antigua and Barbuda and St. Kitts and Nevis signed Blue Planet Climate Agreements — formally committing to transition their nations to 100% renewable energy by 2045.
